What I've Been Stitching

I decided between Christmas and New Year to go through my sewing cupboard and pull out some ufo's to work on.  Some progress has been made -

This is one of the smaller projects - very cute little redwork mittens.  It is an iron on transfer onto felt and stitch up fairly quickly.

I had completed four of the stitcheries for this quilt - a very cute Birdbrain Design, and have since finished several others with only three of the twelve left to stitch.  Am determined to get this one finished soon.

Now I do have a couple of others, and as I can't see to find the photos of those, they will have to wait until next time. Cheryl

More from our Weekend Workshop

I did actually manage a bit of stitching at the workshop with Gail Pan last Saturday.  Bit hard to believe - there was lots of chatting going on.  I took a needleturn project of Gail's to work on and this was my progress for the day -

My friend Sandy had packed a stitchery to trace and stitch, but alas no lightbox.  Well wasn't that lucky - I had packed a stitchery as well, so she worked on my stitchery for me -
Sorry bit hard to see, but a redwork sampler of Gail's.

This was our gorgeous goody bag - a fat 1/8th of pretty green fabric, some binding clips, a variegated DMC, so yummy chocolate and two small patterns.

Did I mention there was a shop? Well a few goodies found their way home with me.  A very cute stitchery called "Wednesday's Blooms" which was a kit with fabric and thread - very reasonably priced, and another lovely pattern for a wool tablemat.
And some fabric.  The fat quarters at the front are all for Gail's new block of the month I am stitching, which will end up at the shop where I work for now, but will come to live at my place eventually. They also had these great $6 scrap bags crammed full of about a dozen matching fabrics - perfect for applique, scrap quilts, etc but I bought some to use in my needleturn project above to give me some extra choices.  And I love pincushions, and couldn't resist the one top right which holds your reel of cotton and had a little doggie pin cushion attached.  Very pleased with my day and my purchases.  Cheryl

Gail Pan's Summer School

I spent a lovely relaxing day Saturday at a Gail Pan day. Not a class as such, but a day to take along a project or two and do some work on it.  I did take a couple of Gail's projects that I've been working on and will show you my progress next time.  We did get spoilt though with lots of yummy food and a really lovely goody bag.

This was my table - we had lots of fun.  Not a lot of work going on when this photo was taken.
Our wonderful hostess
Loved Gail's gorgeous new block of the month.  Some very cute stitcheries - must do a close-up next time; they are lovely. Stitched in Running Postman Cottage Garden thread.  I will stitch this as a sample for the shop where I work, and then I might be able to sneak it home to live with me.

Lots of lovely show and tell, but this is Vicki's beautiful Lucy Boston quilt. Loved it and thought you might like to see it Michelle R, knowing that you love this block.  Stunning Vicki.
Loved this one too - think this was what Gail had been working on and meant to ask her what it was called. Such a lovely block.  Cheryl

FNWF

I joined in on Friday night with Cheryll from Stitching Cubbyhole and lots of others for Friday Night with Friends.  Couldn't decide what to work on (lots of UFOs I'm trying to get finished), but ended up prepping some blocks for "Summer Harvest" which was a class we did with Gail Pan back in July.  As I'm doing Summer School with her next weekend and it is a get-together for ufo's rather than a class, I thought I should get organised.

These are the blocks I worked on.

Now I know you are probably over Christmas, but I didn't get a chance to show you the Santa Sack I finished two days before Christmas, I might add, for my little grandson.  Not that he knew what all the excitement over the sack was over, but more like it's contents.

And before I pack it all away, a little look at my xmas mantle display and some of my lovely wallhangings -
and last one, I promise -
