Working in Wool

I do love working with wool and wool felt and at the moment there is quite a few free downloads and stitchalongs using wool.  I have started one with an Autumn theme and was keeping up until I went on holidays, but am now several blocks behind.

Four and Twenty Blackbirds - reminds me of my childhood with that little ditty.  I have finished this block since I tool this photo - the blackbirds now have beaks and legs.
Love the Autumn colors in this one.

This is quite a large block and lots still to be done - flowers, berries, etc.  Will show you more as progress continues, but is one of my favorites.

Still lots to do on this handsome rooster amongst the pumpkins.

Will show you more as I progress. Cheryl

A Sewing Day and a Special Friend

I have had the loveliest weekend.  It started with Saturday and a workshop with Libby Richardson and Liz from Teddywinks. Very spoilt as always and the food was amazing -

How pretty did it all look.  We each received a copy of Homespun magazine, a bag full of choccies and of course a bag with our projects and kits.
This was one of our projects and the one I chose to work on. It involved a little bit of painting, so was good to do that while we had Libby there to oversee.
And loved this cute little project bag.
I also made a small start on this project. It reminds me of our sewing days.
Lots and lots of beautiful Christmas quilts on display, but I as a bit partial to this lovely redwork one of Liz's.

And then the rest of the weekend we got to spend with very special friends.  We had been so looking forward to this and had the most wonderful time, as I knew we would.  Always love visiting and checking out their sheep, and this time there was some cute little lambs -

And another very cute addition to the family "Peanut" -

Could have snuck her home with me, but I think they would have missed her.   Loved every minute of my weekend.  Cheryl

Retail Therapy

Well as if I don't have enough in the cupboard to do I have been doing a little adding to the pile of late -

Went to lovely "Country Hart" at Port Pirie in Sth Australia while over visiting my new granddaughter.  Couldn't resist this cute bag pattern and kit while I was there.

Also added some lovely backgrounds which I'm always on the lookout for.

Then Lisa from FignBerry Creations happened to bring out two new Christmas patterns in time for the Craft and Quilt Show in Melbourne recently.  So HAD to have them.

And then at a Gail Pan class recently decided these could be handy for gifts and swaps.

And lastly I saw these little booklets from Patchwork with Busy Fingers on paper piecing - curved shapes and Christmas (there were others).  As I havn't had a lot of practice with paper piecing, I thought they could be handy little reference books.

So plenty to keep me busy and out of mischief for weeks. Cheryl

A Lovely Stitching Day

Saturday saw us heading off to Melbourne for a lovely day stitching with Gail Pan and Ramona Hermann.  We always look forward to these days and, of course, they fly by in a flash.

These were two of my lovely stitching companions.

The two projects from Gail we worked on during the day were the lovely little bird/birdhouse wallhanging on the left and two versions of her couch sewing caddy. I'm doing mine in the mustard and red.

Ramona's projects were a lovely table centre and these handy little bags.  Two sizes but with lots of different labels you could stitch to attach, depending on the purpose you wanted the bag for.

I am progressing on my little birdhouse wallhanging so hope to be able to show you that soon.

We all wanted this gorgeous bag Karen had made for Gail (using Gail's fabric range).

There was some lovely quilts for show and tell. I loved this one "Little Woolly Baskets".

And this was a block of the month using Gail's fabric. Loved it also.

This was a free pattern from Buttermilk Basin last year.  The same lady had made these  three quilts -
very productive and absolutely gorgeous all of them.

I have been having a bit of a buy up lately both from the workshop on Saturday an while we were away so will leave that for next time. Cheryl
